Surrey, B.C. – More than 175,000 fans gathered across Surrey to celebrate the FIFA World Cup 2026™ at the City of Surrey’s Soccer Fan Zones this summer, making them the largest celebrations the City has ever hosted, spanning six weeks and four locations.
The fan zones officially launched at Surrey Civic Plaza on June 12 for Canada’s first match of the tournament. Fans also gathered at the Cloverdale Agriplex, South Surrey Athletic Park and Holland Park as the fan zones rolled out across the city. The events featured more than 100 live match broadcasts, along with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, community exhibitors and food trucks.
“The FIFA World Cup is a once-in-a-generation event, and we wanted everyone in Surrey to have the opportunity to be part of it,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “The free fan zones made it possible for families, friends and neighbours to share the excitement of the tournament without having to buy a ticket to a match. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and helped make this celebration such a success, and to the Province of British Columbia for its support.”
Throughout the tournament, the fan zones featured more than 75 local performers, over 50 community partners, and 250 volunteers, reflecting the many local organizations and individuals who contributed to the festivities.
