Surrey makes new history with BC Junos Plaza party

10,000 people enjoy one-day music festival held at Surrey Civic Plaza

Surrey , B.C. – Last Saturday , 10,000 music lovers from across the Lower Mainland attended the Let’s Hear It BC JUNOS Plaza Party at the Surrey Civic Plaza. The free music festival featured live music from more than 30 artists on six stages, including Juno Award nominees Tyler Joe Miller , Channi Nattan and Inderpal Moga, as well as Punjabi legend Sarabjit Cheema. The festival was held to promote Surrey’s musical diversity ahead of the 2025 Juno Awards ceremony , which airs Saturday, March 30 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver . In addition to the live performances , the festival featured an open jam , 5x Art Party , local music organizations , food trucks and a licensed area.

” Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Let’s Hear It BC Junos Plaza Party at the Surrey Civic Plaza,” said Mayor Brenda Locke . “We were filled with pride as we celebrated the incredible talent of our artists, our shared love for our country and the spirit of Surrey. This festival was an important milestone for Surrey , promoting homegrown talent and inspiring the city to become a hub for music and culture. We are committed to supporting local artists, hosting cultural events and making Surrey a premier destination for live music.”

The BC Junos Plaza Party , produced by the City of Surrey , celebrated the first-of-its-kind music festival , a milestone in Surrey’s entertainment development. Surrey is rapidly transforming its city centre into a vibrant entertainment district that attracts visitors while strengthening music, arts and culture. Under the City’s Surrey Music Strategy, adopted in 2023, the festival fulfills the objectives of growing the local music industry , creating more opportunities for Surrey-based artists and establishing Surrey as a leading destination for free music events. By investing in events like the Let’s Hear It BC Junos Plaza Party , the City of Surrey is fostering a thriving music scene that contributes to strengthening artists, businesses and the wider community.

The BC Junos Plaza Party was a key part of the Let’s Hear It BC Junos Tour , a province-wide celebration that highlights the talent of local artists and brings the spirit of JUNOS to every city. The next free Junos Block Party event will be held over 3 days at the Vancouver Art Gallery from March 27-29.

” The Let’s Hear It BC Juno Plaza Party was not just a celebration of music , it was a reflection of Surrey’s role as a hub for creativity , culture and entertainment,” said Nisha Hothi, Marketing Director for the Vancouver Juno Host Committee . “After working in this community for over two decades, it’s great to see Surrey now recognized as a “Music City.” Surrey has always played a leading role in the South Asian music world , and today it continues to shape the future of music. A big thank you to the City of Surrey for making this event possible and elevating Surrey’s presence on a national level.”

Attendees can contribute their feedback to help shape future events, including a chance to win a $200 Guildford Town Centre gift card by completing the survey at surrey.ca/junosplazaparty.
