City of Surrey partners with SFU and Siemens to host innovative manufacturing showcase

Surrey, BC – The City of Surrey, in partnership with Siemens and Simon Fraser University (SFU), is proud to host an upcoming event, Driving Innovation, Productivity & Competitiveness in BC Manufacturing Industries. Taking place on April 29, 2025, this initiative is a key part of Surrey’s Economic Strategy 2024, aimed at boosting growth and collaboration within B.C.’s manufacturing sector. The free event will gather industry leaders, researchers, and supply chain experts to delve into digital transformation, smart manufacturing principles, and innovative strategies to enhance productivity.

Mayor Brenda Locke will deliver the opening address at the event, highlighting Surrey’s strategic advantages and commitment to innovation in the sector. Attendees can look forward to panel discussions, informative sessions, and engaging lab tours led by experts from Siemens, SFU, Accenture, and the City of Surrey.

Participants will also have the chance to learn about government incentives for technology adoption, contributing to the growing ecosystem that supports Surrey’s innovative businesses. This event underscores the city’s commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities by leveraging local resources and partnerships.

By showcasing Surrey’s Innovation Boulevard programming and enhancing community engagement, the event aims to reaffirm the city’s position as a major hub for advanced manufacturing and technology in Canada.
