A community engagement session was organized by Culture Chats BC Association to inform the vision for a new museum or cultural centre in B.C. to highlight the histories, cultures, and contributions to British Columbia from Canadians of diverse South Asian heritages. This was held on Sunday July 28 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Anvil Center in New Westminster. The session was informative and invited prominent public figures as speakers to provide an overview and a background for this consultation. This was followed by group discussions providing an opportunity for all attendees to participate. About forty people participated in this community discussion and provided very diverse viewpoints. There were four facilitators and note takers. They recorded the inputs provided by the community and this consultation was one of many that have been offered on behalf of this initiative.

If you were unable to join on this day you can also fill the online survey to provide your inputs and views: https://feedback.engage.gov.bc.ca/182261?lang=en

The Province of BC has partnered with the BC Museums Association (BCMA) collaboratively and community inputs are invited from all British Columbians to receive feedback from a wide and diverse range of perspectives to carefully balance what is shared, and what is unique and distinctive, between and within particular communities.
