COMPASSION IN ACTION – A Tribute Fundraiser for LapuLapu Tragedy’s Affected Families

100% donation proceeds go to Surrey impacted families, Kapwa Strong via United Way BC, Archdiocese of Vancouver, and Canadian Red Cross

WHERE DONATION IS GOING:100% proceeds will be divided into the following beneficiaries:(1) 60% directly to Surrey impacted families (nine families that we know of, so far.) (2) 40% (In our aim to be inclusive, we wish to also help non Surrey affected families) through the following: 

  •  United Way British Columbia (Kapwa Strong by Filipino BC, the LapuLapu Festival event organizer)
  • Canadian Red Cross 2025 Vancouver Lapu Lapu Festival Appeal 
  • Archdiocese of Vancouver Special Appeal 

HOW TO DONATE:(1) E-transfer to SPIDS at [email protected] (available now)
(2)  Onsite at the event 
(3)  Please name check to SPIDS
(4)  We discourage cash but won’t decline if that is the only means possible for donors.Please note “LapuLapu Tribute Fundraiser” on all donations. Receipt available onsite.
Business expense receipt available.
Tax deductible receipt available.

  • Donor information (name, contact info they are willing to provide) will be strictly noted.
  • There will be a 3rd party auditor onsite and after the event –  to review and verify the accuracy of donation records.
  • There will be a presentation check at the event available for organization/individual donation over $500 or upon request.
  • Donor List (name only) will be posted publicly unless Donor opted not to.

EVENT INFORMATION:–  FREE ADMISSION. Donation highly requested. OPEN TO PUBLIC.  This is a RAIN or SUN event.

– Safety of everyone is paramount. The event is fully coordinated with the City of Surrey FEST Committee and the Surrey Police Services.-  There will be tribute performances via song and dances, messages from affected families, and flower offerings.-  Public transportation is highly recommended. Surrey Central Station (for skytrain and buses) is right across the venue.-  Paid parking at P1 of Surrey City Hall available ($4.00 weekend flat rate or $1.50 each hour or portion)- PLEASE BRING LAWN CHAIRS IF YOU CAN. Seating availability at the venue are the concrete stairs at City Hall beside the cafe- PLEASE BRING FLOWERS FOR OFFERING (These will be sent later to the tragedy site)- NO CANDLES ALLOWED AT VENUE.- There will be complimentary bottled water (while supplies last) and snacks available for sale.
