Dil Diyan Gallan, an initiative with the goal to break the stigma and silence around Mental Health in the South Asian Community, held its first event today to unveil its campaign’s poster. Sukh Dhaliwal, Member of Parliament, and a strong supporter of the South Asian community, and Kal Dosanjh, founder of KidsPlay Foundation, attended as chief guests to unveil the Dil Diyan Gallan poster. Kal Dosanjh emphasized that to break the stigma and make change, we all hold a moral obligation to support causes like Dil Diyan Gallan and do what we can to help change wherever it is needed. Both shared their support of developing greater awareness and opening the dialogue in our homes and community. The master of ceremony, Vinay Sharma from Times of India, Kapil Malik from the Canadian Hindu Foundation, and Robin Kanozia from VTV Canada, all shared their knowledge, experience and support of this initiative.
This event had a great turn out, with family and friends gathering and talking about the importance to normalize mental health. This first event of Dil Diyan Gallan was held at Payal Business Centre in Surrey, where many store owners supported the cause by putting up campaign posters in their stores for their customers to see.
The Dil Diyan Gallan team, Sunil, Chahat and Raman, would like to thank each and every person that made this event possible. Our team also wishes to thank the community members that stopped by our event tent and asked questions and partook in spreading awareness.
