The Office of the Mayor for the City of Vancouver has officially proclaimed July 18, 2026 as “Dance For Impact Day,” recognizing a community-driven initiative focused on autism inclusion, mental health awareness, and social connection through fitness and movement.
The proclamation, issued by Mayor Ken Sim on behalf of Vancouver City Council, acknowledges the meaningful work being done by the Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN), a leading British Columbia organization dedicated to supporting autistic individuals and their families through accessible resources, education, and inclusive community programming.
The recognition also highlights the upcoming 2026 Zumba For Love fundraiser, an initiative organized in collaboration with community leaders and advocates to promote physical well-being, inclusion, and mental health awareness through dance and movement-based activities.
According to the proclamation, 100% of the proceeds raised through the event will be donated directly to PAFN to help strengthen autism support services and community-based programming across British Columbia.
The City emphasized that the initiative encourages positive mental health, social belonging, and inclusive participation by bringing together families, volunteers, local businesses, advocates, and residents in support of a shared cause.
In officially declaring “Dance For Impact Day,” the City of Vancouver recognized the collective efforts of community members working toward greater autism inclusion and awareness throughout the province.
The proclamation was signed by Mayor Ken Sim and issued under the authority of Vancouver City Council.
“NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ken Sim, Mayor of the City of Vancouver, on behalf of Vancouver City Council DO HEREBY PROCLAIM July 18, 2026 as ‘DANCE FOR IMPACT DAY’ in the City of Vancouver.”
The proclamation serves as an important acknowledgment of the growing impact community-led initiatives can have in fostering inclusivity, awareness, and support for individuals and families affected by autism.
