On July 5th, 2026, volunteers from Dr. Shri Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan (DSNDP), a global nonprofit organization rooted in community service, returned to Niagara Falls for their second environmental clean-up initiative of 2026, conducting Adopt-A-Park and Adopt-A-Road programs in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Region at Coronation Park and Montrose Road. This milestone effort reflects DSNDP’s enduring mission to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement, and civic responsibility across Ontario. A total of 14 volunteers successfully removed 28 bags of waste, totaling approximately 420 pounds — reinforcing the importance of sustained action in maintaining clean, welcoming public spaces.
Since April 2023, DSNDP has been at the forefront of sustainability efforts across Ontario, driven by the founding principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the belief that the world is one family. Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari and Dr. Sachindada Dharmadhikari, these initiatives continue to inspire communities to embrace civic responsibility and actively participate in building a cleaner, more sustainable Ontario.
The clean-up drives were attended by Lori Lococo, City Councillor for the City of Niagara Falls, who welcomed the volunteers and thanked DSNDP for its continued commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.
Speaking to the volunteers, Councillor Lococo said, “Volunteerism is so important, and without volunteerism there’s a lot of things that do not get done in our community. Thank you so much for coming here. I really appreciate DSNDP for coming here. It’s so important, and I know that you go to other communities and do the same thing.”
She further acknowledged DSNDP’s broader environmental impact, noting that the organization’s achievements in litter removal and tree planting demonstrate its commitment to protecting the environment beyond Niagara Falls. She added that volunteers should feel they are part of the Niagara Falls community because their efforts make a meaningful difference to residents. Councillor Lococo thanked all volunteers for their dedication and wished them success as they carried out the Adopt-A-Road and Adopt-A-Park programs, noting that community partnerships like these play an essential role in keeping Niagara Falls clean, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable.
During the scheduled cleanup hours between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, DSNDP volunteers simultaneously undertook the two key clean-up efforts in Niagara Falls. One group focused on Coronation Park (5775 Hanan Ave, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 4E8) where volunteers worked to refresh the public green space by clearing accumulated litter and debris. At the same time, another team continued the initiative along Montrose Road—from Charnwood Avenue to Chippawa Creek Road—targeting this high-traffic corridor to improve its appearance and environmental health. Along Montrose Road, 11 volunteers collected 25 bags of trash and removed approximately 375 pounds of waste. At Coronation Park, 3 volunteers collected 3 bags of waste, contributing approximately 45 pounds of debris removal. These contributions show how consistent, community-led action can bring about meaningful change when driven by a shared sense of responsibility and purpose.
DSNDP’s environmental and community initiatives continue to make a significant impact across Ontario. Through a series of cleanliness drives held in 10 cities, the organization has mobilized 907 volunteers, who have collectively removed approximately 24,570 pounds of waste, demonstrating a strong commitment to public service and environmental stewardship. Initiatives such as Adopt-A-Park, Adopt-A-Highway, and Adopt-A
Road have been carried out multiple times, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to maintaining cleaner public spaces.
The organization has also led tree plantation drives in Mississauga and Hamilton, where 74 volunteers planted 950 trees. Additionally, in partnership with Canadian Blood Services, DSNDP has hosted plasma donation drives in July 2022, October 2023, November 2024, and October 2025 — reflecting a commitment that extends well beyond environmental efforts.
Over the past four consecutive years, the City of Niagara Falls has witnessed an ongoing commitment from DSNDP, with a total of 21 environmental programs conducted till now in the region—including cleanliness drives under the Adopt-A-Park and Adopt-A Road, initiatives. These repeated efforts have engaged numerous local volunteers, removed thousands of pounds of waste, and contributed to the city’s ecological well-being. Recognizing the consistency and community impact of this work, DSNDP was awarded with the Civic Pride Award 2024 by the City of Niagara Falls, celebrating its role in fostering civic responsibility, environmental stewardship, and community pride.
