Surrey, BC – On the evening of September 20, 2025, the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society (SFFCS) proudly
hosted the 11th Annual Ignite a Dream Fundraiser at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Cloverdale Trades
Campus. The event, presented in partnership with KPU and Community Volunteer Sponsor Scotiabank, brought
together over 300 guests in a heartfelt celebration of community, opportunity, and the power of education.
With the generous support of the Gary & Gail Grelish Foundation, who matched donations up to $30,000, and
contributions from 10 outstanding restaurant sponsors, beverage partners, media partners, our Platinum Sponsor,
and Rental Sponsor, the event raised over $70,000 in net proceeds. These funds will directly support educational
scholarships for youth in Surrey who have overcome significant personal and financial challenges.
The mission of Ignite a Dream is to remove barriers to post-secondary education by providing bursaries to
deserving local students who have demonstrated resilience and determination in the face of adversity. The SFFCS
has now helped contribute over $500,000 in bursaries to students in Surrey.
This year’s contributions alone will push the Society’s support of KPU students past the $300,000 mark, creating
even more opportunities for young leaders to pursue meaningful careers and brighter futures.
“Ignite a Dream is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a movement driven by compassion and a commitment to
making education accessible for all,” said Mike Vincent, vice president (Board of Directors) of the Surrey Fire
Fighters’ Charitable Society. “We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and community members for
rallying behind this cause and making such a lasting impact.”
The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society extends its deepest thanks to all those who supported the 2025 Ignite a Dream event and helped make the evening a resounding success.
