It’s been a year since Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers issued an urgent appeal for ANONYMOUS information to help police make arrests in connection with the extortion-related shootings seen in Surrey and elsewhere around the Lower Mainland.
While police are making progress in finding and charging suspects, attacks continue. “We urge anyone with information to call Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers and leave and anonymous tip if they fear for their own safety and don’t want to be identified in any way,” says Karen Reid Sidhu, the newly appointed Executive Director of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers. “Normally, Crime Stoppers doesn’t accept tips from any crime victim and should call 9-1-1 or the police directly for help.”
Some people think Crime Stoppers is the police and that any information they provide may somehow be used against them. “Absolutely untrue,” says Reid Sidhu. “It is totally safe for anyone to call our ANONYMOUS tips line. Please send us any information you have even if it seems minor. It could turn out to be a missing piece of the puzzle that police need to solve a crime.”

We also still accept tips by phone at 1-800-222-8477 where Crime Stoppers operators accept calls around the clock in 115 languages including Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin and Cantonese.
