Premier Eby Promotes B.C. Trade and Investment on First Day of Asia Mission in Tokyo

Premier Eby spent his first day of the trade mission in Asia on the ground in Tokyo, Japan meeting with key decision makers about expanding trade and investment to support good jobs in B.C. 

  • He met with the Ambassador of Canada to Japan, Ian McKay, at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo and was briefed on current Canada-Japan relations. 
  • He visited a Seijo Ishii supermarket where he picked up some Hardbite chips. These are made in Surrey. He also visited an Arc’teryx retail location to see B.C.’s presence in Tokyo retail markets and get a feel for how we can expand it further. 
  • He met with the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security to hear about their needs for critical minerals and energy and talk about trade opportunities.  
  • He met with critical mineral investors to talk about B.C.’s critical mineral landscape and how B.C. can meet Asian markets demand for these products.
