Nov 20, 2024 – Surrey, BC – The first-ever Mayor’s Forum took place on Nov. 19 at Surrey City Hall, hosted by Mayor Brenda Locke and the City of Surrey’s Investment, Innovation, and Business Committee. Local business leaders, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders gathered for an evening of constructive dialogue aimed at uniting Surrey’s diverse business organizations as Mayor Locke presented the City’s ambitious vision for the future.
“This event marks a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between the City and our vibrant business community,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “I am incredibly grateful to everyone who attended the forum. Your insights and participation are vital as we transform Surrey into a vibrant, connected, and welcoming city prepared to accommodate a population of one million people. This event was just the beginning of a deeper partnership between the City and our business community to create an environment that supports economic growth and innovation.”
The forum featured several highlights, including:
- A comprehensive presentation outlining the City of Surrey’s top strategic priorities and growth initiatives including sports, entertainment and cultural venues, two destination entertainment districts, the new SFU School of Medicine and affordable rental housing.
- An engaging feedback session that allowed business leaders to voice their insights, concerns, and innovative ideas directly to Mayor, Councillors and City staff.
- Networking opportunities that facilitated connections among attendees, fostering relationships that will be pivotal for future collaboration.
