Inderpal Moga’s musical journey is a testament to the power of cultural roots and creative evolution. Growing up surrounded by Punjabi traditions, Moga’s passion for music took shape during his school and college years. “It started in my school and college days. I was always passionate about singing, and any chance I got, whether at a school festival or a local event, I’d jump at the opportunity,” he shares. Initially influenced by religious music, he built a strong foundation through traditional hymns that deeply connected him to his heritage.
As he grew as an artist, Moga began blending Punjabi folk sounds with modern musical influences to create a style that’s uniquely his own. Inspired by legendary voices like Kuldeep Manak and Chamkila, Moga embraced storytelling as the heart of his music. “Their authenticity really resonated with me,” he notes. He also credits artists like Sukhshinder Shinda and Jazzy B for showing him how to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary music—an approach now central to Moga’s sound.
One of his standout projects, East to West, saw him team up with Chani Nattan and AR Paisley. “We connected over our love for both traditional and contemporary sounds, making the creative process dynamic,” he says. The EP was well received for its seamless fusion of cultural influences and marked a meaningful moment of collaboration and representation.
As an Indo-Canadian artist, Moga uses music to celebrate identity and connect cultures. “I incorporate traditional instruments and melodies while using modern production techniques,” he explains. This blend not only keeps Punjabi culture alive but also makes it relatable for younger generations navigating dual identities.
During Sikh Heritage Month, Moga highlights how his music serves as a platform for representation. “Through my lyrics, I share stories that reflect our values, struggles, and triumphs,” he says. Infused with historical and spiritual themes, his songs educate and inspire, bridging gaps and fostering understanding between generations.
Reflecting on milestones, Moga proudly recalls receiving a Canada Music Gold Certification for his hit song Daku and performing at the Juno Awards. “Standing on that stage, representing my roots, was an honor,” he says. These achievements continue to fuel his passion and dedication.
Currently, Moga is gearing up for the release of his debut album, Nice Day in the Pind. “It’s a big moment for us, and we want to make sure it gets the attention it deserves,” he shares. While details remain under wraps, fans can look forward to more music and powerful collaborations.
