Committed to philanthropy, public service, and bettering the lives of those she serves, Surrey’s Shanjeelin Dwivedi has made a name for herself in British Columbia and across the country. Her contributions to humanitarianism include serving as the International Brand Ambassador for Sai Prema Foundation, an NGO founded to serve children through the provision of medical care, education, and social services. In 2021, former President of India Shri Kovind recognized Sai Prema’s work through the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award. Currently, Shanjeelin serves as the co-founder of the Dwivedi foundation, an effort dedicated to helping first-responders in their fight against Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Her work to honor our front-line heroes has been recognized by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Politics and public policy have always been a passion of Shanjeelin’s. She has served on many electoral district associations (EDAs) as a political advisor, strategist, and policy chair, chairperson for EDA’s candidate selection committee including for the federal Surrey Centre Conservatives, Cloverdale Langley City Conservatives and the Surrey–Tynehead BC Liberals (now BC United). She has also served on the Citizens Advisory Board. Shanjeelin has a Masters in Conflict Analysis and Management, Major in Ethno Political studies, Undergraduate Degree in Criminal Justice, and Associate Degree in Immigration Studies. Professionally, Ms. Dwivedi has served as a Community Programs Officer with BC’s Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation, where she provided income and disability assistance to BC’s most vulnerable citizens and represented the Ministry for appeals and tribunals. She now works in Ottawa as Director of Parliamentary Affairs for MP Cathay Wagantall. Outside of work, Shanjeelin remains a strong advocate for battered and abused women, as well as various charitable organizations. She has helped organize the National Prayer Breakfast and Diwali on Parliament hill. While she has received numerous awards for her contributions to many communities, service and selflessness remain at the core of her life.
